Ways to give

  • Direct your gift to the Community Fund and the Board of Directors decides where earnings can be used most effectively each year.
  • Offer some direction or designation by choosing a field of interest or beneficiary organization.
  • Establish your own fund by choosing its name and decide how it will work to benefit the community and fulfill your charitable goals.
  • Create a tribute or memorial named fund in honour of a loved one or dedicated member of the community.

There are many possibilities to consider in donating to the Foundation. There are also significant tax benefits. We would be pleased to work with you and your professional advisor — lawyer, accountant or financial planner — to find the approach that best suits your personal circumstances.

Professional advisors and donors are invited to reference for more information on planned giving.

Recognition of Donors

Some donors prefer not to participate in recognition programs and we respect that wish. We do, however, celebrate all citizens who support the Foundation.

Ascent of Philanthropy Program

The Ascent of Philanthropy (PDF 154 KB) program was instituted in early 2001 to provide a long-term strategy to build the endowment funds with donations from individuals, businesses, organizations, and major corporations. The theme of “ascending” symbolizes stability, perpetuity, and the persistence needed in life for achievement.

Founding Donors

During the first two years of operations a founding donor campaign was established to commence our fund development program. The following organizations, businesses and individuals contributed to the foundation during 1999 and 2000.

Donors contributing $1000 or more during 1999 and 2000.

Donors contributing $100 to $1000 during 1999 and 2000.
